I’ve been feeling inspired by the healing powers of the ocean. I live in the Pacific Northwest and see the water from my window every day. These products are all inspired by the minerals and plants found in the sea. Many cultures have counted on the cleansing powers of the ocean for thousands of years. Thalassotherapy Cures (common at spas in France and North Africa) are used to heal the body with sea water, kelp, seaweeds and algae. I’ve been using these products for cosmetic purposes for years. They are calming and the clean fragrances make me feel light yet grounded. As a Cancer sun sign perhaps it’s moving within my natural environment (the ocean) that attracts me to these products.
Take a moment in this new year to create a time for healing and cleansing away the old year. I hope you enjoy the products I’m sharing with you today.
Dr. Teals Marine Sea Kelp Mineral Soak
Epsom salts are a combination of sulfate and magnesium which are both known for their detoxification powers as well as calming the nervous system and aiding sore tight muscles. I use 1-2 cups of this soak once a week. Sea kelp calms skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. I have the best sleeps when I have a bath in the evenings during Autumn and Winter.

Biotherm Life Plankton Essence
Essences are light weight waters infused with ingredients that absorb deep into the skin and prep it for other products. I use this essence twice a day. Plankton are live organisms found in the ocean as well as in natural hot springs and are said to protect against harmful UV rays. It also contains natural antibacterial properties and strengthens the skin barrier.

Skyn Iceland Glacial Face Wash
I purchased this face wash based on the reviews alone. Packed with minerals and glacial water, this foaming cleanser does it’s job at removing makeup and oil from skin while remaining gentle. Skyn Iceland is part of the “Clean at Sephora” brands which means they do not add any nasty ingredients to their products (Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar).

SKYN Iceland Nordic Skin Peels With Glacial Water
If asked what my biggest skincare secret is I’d have to say 3 things: 1. SPF daily ( Even if I’m indoors all day). 2. Vitamin C serum (I use Timeless Vit C 20% in Ferulic Acid) and 3. Acid Peeling. As we age, our skin cell turnover slows way down. Acids like AHA’s, BHA’s & Mandelic melt the top layer of the skin giving it a chance to exfoliate quickly. The result is fresh new skin underneath that glows. SKYN Iceland was created using the glacial waters and botanicals found on this vulcanic island. One pad swiped over my skin right after cleansing in the morning brightens and tightens (it also leaves a minty cooling sensation like a blast of fresh Arctic air on your face). I follow it with the Biotherm Essence, my serums and SPF!

Life Brand Seaweed and Ceramides Hydrogel Masks
Wondering what seaweed does for skin? Hydration is what! Seaweed is full of humectants that draw in moisture from the environment, and naturally occurring vitamin E. The amino acids in seaweed plump and smooth fine lines. Ceramides create a barrier to lock in moisture. Before any outing or event, I use this mask for 20 minutes then do my makeup. This is a great one to use if you’ve had a little too much to drink the night before. This mask de-puffs skin and leave you looking refreshed. (Also pictured Garnier Sheet Mask with Charcoal an Algae Extract).

Bumble & Bumble Seaweed Shampoo
It’s not easy to find a Shampoo with Seaweed probably because seaweed smells well, not that great. I’m glad I found this one though; it smells fresh and green (if that makes any sense). Packed with zinc, vitamin A & E. Seaweed stimulates growth and significantly improves the health of hair because of it’s high dose of natural Collagen. I wash with this shampoo once a week followed by my Flower of Tahiti Hair Mask.

Flower of Tahiti Organic Hair Mask
I had to include my product line www.floweroftahiti.com . Infused with 100% Authentic Tahitian Monoi Oil, Flower of Tahiti is Organic and Vegan. I hand-make every jar and have been using it as a deeply hydrating treatment for my hair for ove 10 years. Monoi Oil has been made by the Polynesian people of Tahiti for 2,000 years and is still made in the same way today as it was all those years ago. A marriage of fresh virgin coconut oil mixed with Tahitian Tiare flower petals (Tiare is a Gardenia flower that only grows on the islands of Tahiti – Nowhere else on the planet!). The result is a beautifully scented hair mask that can be used daily, weekly or as a leave-in conditioner while swimming or surfing. One thing is for sure; you will be transported to a tropical location every time you open a jar and your hair will never feel as soft and healthy.

Ren Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Body Wash
Magnesium is a must for you if you are always sore. If I don’t do yoga daily and get my weekly massages, I hold a lot of tension in my muscles which results in sore muscles that almost feel bruised to the touch. This body wash claims to be anti-fatigue and contains Atlantic Sea Kelp, Plankton and Magnesium. All of these ingredients are amazing for loosening tights muscles and in some instances even aiding cramps & spasms. Magnesium is also an excellent sleep aid. I love knowing that between my massage and yoga sessions that this wash has me covered and that it will continue to help my aching body well after my shower.

Powdered Seaweed Body Mask
I keep Seaweed in powder form. Mixed with a little warm water and some detoxifying essential oils, it makes a great slimming anti-cellulite body mask. Seaweed firms skin (you’ve probably heard of seaweed wraps at spas). I apply it in the shower and let it works it’s magic for a few minutes before rinsing off. Warning: this smells very strongly of well…Seaweed which to some can be very unpleasant. Luckily it doesn’t linger once washed off. I put up with the stench of low-tide because the benefits out-weigh the odour.

The Orinary Marine Hyaluronics
I’ve been using more of The Ordinary products this year. I like the idea of using just one concentrated ingredient on my skin even if it means I use 5 -7 different serums daily. These Hyaluronics (an acid) are derived from marine water. They attract and hold water in the skin for a plumping effect. Did you know? Hyaluronics hold 1000 times their weight in water within the cells of our skin. At my age, I not only make sure to drink a LOT of water daily but really appreciate my skincare helping me out too.

Since going for a dip in the ocean is not an option right now, these products are the next best thing. Thanks for joining me today!
Love,
Jennifer
