Evenings in Autumn are my favourite times. After a comforting warm meal it’s a time to wind down, share thoughts about our day with family and take time for ourselves.
Welcome to my cozy Autumn Evening routine. I hope you’re all enjoying the season.
At sun down I dim the lights and light candles. I love gourmand scented candles for fall in scents like Vanilla, Caramel, Pumpkin and Apple. The flickering of candle light sets the mood for relaxing.
A snuggle with my kitties is a must. Merlin likes to act extra cute rolling over on his back as I approach and I can’t help but rub his warm fuzzy belly.

Nothing makes me feel more cozy than a bath and I have one every evening throughout the Fall & Winter. I prop my iPad on the bathroom counter and listen to my Pacific Northwest music playlist on Youtube while the bath runs. The playlist includes music by Maxx Marshall, Nadia Reid and Fleet Foxes. I add a few drops of essential oils to the running water. In Fall I gravitate toward earthy evergreen scents. Oils like Black Spruce, Fir Balsam and Frankincense are always in my cupboard.

I set up my wood bath caddy with all my skin care essentials and start by double cleansing my face to remove makeup, sunscreen and impurities from the day. I’ve been loyal to Clinique “Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm” for years. It melts into skin and removes even the most stubborn mascara.
I follow up with the Hydro Boost gentle foaming cleanser by Neutrogena. It leaves the skin feeling clean and never tight or dry.
The Dr. Brandt exfoliator is really fine and polishes skin leaving it so soft.
This creamy face mask by Avene is safe for even the most sensitive skin. I sink into the warm water, close my eyes and drift into Meditation while the mask works for 20 – 30 minutes.
I make sure to moisturize head to toe right out of the bath. This body gel cream has a light consistency and absorbs quickly into skin leaving it feeling hydrated and never greasy.
Over the years I’ve honed in on products that work really well in conjunction to keep my skin radiant and healthy. My night time skincare includes ingredients like Peptides, Niacinamide and Oils.
On nights when I’m not using Retin-A, I add a few drops of pure Hyaluronic Acid by Timeless Beauty to my hands and gently pat it over my face, neck chest and backs of my hands.

Next I use The Ordinary’s Niacinamide + Zinc Serum again over my face, neck, chest and backs of my hands followed up by Timeless’ CoEnzyme Q10 Serum.
Once these products absorb into my skin, I apply a dropper full of the L’oreal Revitalift Serum.
I’ve been loyal to Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream for years. I hydrate my lips with it right before bed, apply my lash serum and finish my skincare off with 3-4 drops of an oil I make at home with a mixture of anti-aging carrier oils and Essential oils including pure Rose and Helichrysum.
I can’t get into a messy bed so if for any reason I haven’t made the bed during the day, I like stretch the sheets out and fluff the pillows. A spritz of my homemade Lavender & Rose linen spray makes the duvet and sheets smell fresh.
A cup of Hot Chocolate in Almond Milk is essential for a cozy Autumn night.
I like to play soft music in the bedroom. New York Jazz or Rain sounds aren’t distracting for bedtime reading.
The evening ends with a good book before bed; a great way to unwind and disconnect from computers and phones. How do you spend your evenings at home? I’d love to hear from you.
Until next time.
Love,
Jennifer
