We just spent a wonderful week in Mexico. We stayed at the Riu Palace Pacifico and were surprised that our upgrade meant the penthouse suite; a two storey suite with a jacuzzi tub inside as well as another on the rooftop patio via a spiral staircase with domed ceilings painted like a starry night sky. The room overlooks the pool and ocean and the sunsets were stunning.
We enjoyed lounging around the pool, walking on the beach and swimming in the ocean. For Seth’s birthday we got up bright and early and were at the golf course by 8am. I’d never experienced a golf course, it’s so peaceful and beautiful. There were signs on all the ponds of gators…and we saw one!
That evening we put on our best and headed to the Sonora Grill Prime for a really fun night. The service and food are so great. The music is quite loud which makes it a great spot to celebrate and they brought out dessert for Seth with a sparkler and sang him happy birthday.
For day trips we took a cab to Puerto Vallarta about 30 minutes from our resort where we shopped, tried free tequila and watched a thunder storm while snacking on chips and guacamole and our 100th margarita of the trip. We also headed in the opposite direction one day and visited the lovely surf town of Sayulita. We lunched on fajitas right on the beach while a trio played lively Mexican music. The rest of the afternoon we had sun beds in the shade which you pay for and includes a server who will serve you drinks and food as well as a voucher to use the bathroom at the closest bar, very important for me at least.
This was my first time in Mexico. The people are so warm and friendly and it was nice to speak Spanish. I was happy to feel safe at all times as well, a privilege you don’t experience in Colombia.
I hope you enjoy a small portion of the photos I took and until the next adventure!
Love,
Jennifer
